We offer the choice of two beautiful, spacious and well-equipped stone-built Tuscan farmhouses both of which can accommodate up to seven people and can either be rented separately or together for larger parties with a shared and secure swimming pool.
The farmhouses are set on the South facing slopes of the Monti Pisani, an environmentally protected area of outstanding natural beauty, in the midst of over 10 acres of terraced olive grove, fruit trees, birds and wild flowers. Both farmhouses command spectacular views over Pisa, the Leaning Tower, the Pisan Plain and the Mediterranean Sea beyond
'La Lucertola' is in a superb position: about a 20 minute drive from both Pisa and Lucca, 30 minutes from the coast, about an hour from Florence and lesser known gems making exploration fun and worth while. The combination of hills, sea and proximity to places of cultural interest make this a holiday location to suit and inspire all moods and fancies.
La Lucertola' is reached by its own private road above the sleepy hamlet of Pugnano. There are excellent local facilities in the nearby village of Molina di Quosa, including bar, chemist, post office and an excellent delicatessen and Rosticceria' called "Ciappino" that attracts clientele from far and wide. Just a little further down the road towards Pisa is the pretty and lively spa town of San Giuliano Terme. Once home to Percy and Mary Shelley, here you can enjoy a full range of first rate spa facilities and beauty treatments including steam bath, hydromassage and facials, as well as good restaurants, cafés and bars.
Above La Lucertola you can walk well-maintained and extensive forest trails. The views are simply breathtaking and the flora and fauna are glorious.
Close to La Lucertola you can go horse riding in the maritime wooded nature reserve of San Rossore and go bird watching on the lake of nearby Torre del Lago. Here the composer Puccini wrote his most famous works and every summer there is an open air lakeside opera festival held in his honour.
Alternatively, you can have a restful and peaceful time at home taking in the views and listening to the birdsong. On hot days you can cool off in the pool (7m X 3m X 1.2m deep) which enjoys a spectacular and uninterrupted view of Pisa and the hills across the plain below. There is a comfortable surrounding area, furnished with sun loungers and a small table, which is ideal for sunbathing by day and for gentle basking as the sun gradually sets in the evening. Shade is provided by a large umbrella and olive trees.
For safety reasons and for everyone's peace of mind, the pool sits in a secure fenced off area with access through a gate whose bolt is well out of the reach of small hands! Additionally, the pool is out of ground and the steps can be raised out of the way when not in use, so if you have small children or non-swimmers in your party, you can also relax in the pool area itself.
Both in Pisa and Lucca as well as in the hills and surrounding villages it is easy to find a wide range of good trattorias, pizzerias and restaurants, offering delicious Tuscan cuisine and wine. If cooking at home, you are free to pick seasonal herbs and produce from our garden and fruit trees and enjoy the unbeatable flavour and satisfaction of "just picked" organic produce.
If you are interested in doing something a little bit different, we can arrange "Restaurant at Home." This is an original night out, where your own 4 course meal is cooked for you at a fixed per head price including aperitif, wine, spirits and coffee. riverside wharf apartment in the heart of Pisa.

Provided that your laptop has a "wi-fi" receiver, we provide you with a username and password and you can log on for as long as you like wherever you wish both inside and outside the houses.
